Mamelodi school children are elated with CONCO’s donation of brand new school shoes

New school shoes are a privilege that many South Africa school children are not afforded. However, the pupils of Mahlasedi Masana Primary School in Mamelodi in Pretoria, were in for a surprise this year. CONCO has been working on a project in the area over the past three years, which has entailed the supply, installation and commissioning of equipment for the upgrading of the Mamelodi 3 132/11kV substation, and as with any CONCO project undertaken, there is a social responsibility component to it.

It was like manna from heaven for the 96 school children of Mahlasedi Masani Primary School, when CONCO donated new school shoes to each and every pupil. “We were pleased to be able to contribute to the school knowing what a difference this donation would make in the lives of these school children,” commented CONCO’s Transformation Manager, Londani Ntuli.

CONCO project engineer Eugene Taljaard said, “In addition to this donation, CONCO provided training for EPWP (Extended Public Works Programme) personnel, in power and hand tools as well as in first aid. Various skills were learnt and developed through this project such as communication, negotiations, training, and disturbance handling.”
